Bury Council is inviting members of the public to help draw up a strategy to meet the needs of local autistic people.
A workshop will be held on Wednesday 7 March at the Peel Room in Bury Town Hall, from 9.30am to 11.30am.
There are 80 spaces in the free workshop and the council wants anyone who cares for or provides services to autistic people, and autistic people themselves, to come along and get involved.
If you are interested in attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0161 253 6915.
This is the first step in creating a strategy which mirrors the Department of Health’s national strategy “Fulfilling and rewarding lives”, which aims to ensure that all adults with autism are able to live fulfilling and rewarding lives in a society that accepts and understands them, and that they can get a diagnosis and access support if they need it, and they can depend on mainstream public services to treat them fairly as individuals, helping them make the most of their talents.
